Steven and Jean Tir
Steven Tir, a Yugoslavian by birth with Canadian citizenship and an AIMer from 1992 to 2000, met his wife while they both served as associates in missions in Slovakia. While under the Associates In Missions program, the Tirs—she is a certified teacher from the state of Maine—opened New Life Center Language School as a means of support and evangelism and pastored in Kosice, Slovakia. He stated, “The Lord called me to Slovakia, the cultural home of my parents, with special emphasis from scripture in Esther 4:14, ‘For such a time as this.’” Steven and Jean Tir received their appointment as UPCI missionaries to Slovakia in September 2000 and arrived on the field in February 2003. They continue to pastor the church in Kosice.
